Training Gone Wrong

TW : Violence, sexual abuse / assault. Some blood.

Here we are…Dorys’s bio / backstory, and also my own to an extent, since she is my persona. Although many things in this “prequel” of sorts is symbolic or metaphoric , and deserves an explanation.

-First, Farghund. His name is a mix between two Swedish words : «Varghund» (a breed of dog used to hunt wolves), and «Fähund» (meaning a contemptible person, a “dog”). He encompasses many people I’ve known.
-Wolves…Well they are predators, and there are a lot of idioms around them, as well as myth and legends, in a lot of European cultures, I guess. Art least in France, there is.

-The young wolf represents a guy who was my age, who preyed on me, trying to choke me, like the wolf did.

-Farghund is the adult who did nothing, and even worse, watched it all happen, without intervening, enjoying it, even. He is sadistic, and manipulates and forces Dorys to go where she doesn’t want to go.

-Dorys attacks Farghund after dealing with the wolf, because she no longer fully trusts him, and she doesn’t trust he would be able or willing to help her.
-The cage…it’s how Dorys hates being locked in and restrained, as a general rule.
-Also the lack of security…which is obvious, I guess. The cage is made of wood or bamboo, because this can be “easily” broken, and represent a meager protection against a preying wolf. Dorys gets vulnerable in a place she shouldn’t be vulnerable.

That’s it for now. I’m on my phone, so I may have forgotten stuff. ^^

Characters (Dorys & Farghund) (c) Aurore «MetalFeline» Ciholas

Dorys could scent the cabin in the woods, before she could even see it.

Her trainer and “uncle”, Farghund, who was actually more of a family friend she’s known for forever, greeted her with a large smile, and they head butted each other, like family members normally do among the Wyldaeren of the East. Then he placed his hand on her back, pushing her in the direction she needed to go.

They approached near an enormous wooden and bamboo cage, with a separation in the middle. It was wide and high enough for her to stand and lay in it. One part was empty, while the other had a big male wolf in it. There were two doors on the side, one for Dorys, and the other for the wolf. There was also a trapdoor in the middle of the separation part of the cage.

Dorys mentioned that to Farghund, but he shrugged her concerns off in a grumble. Then, he spoke. “Yes, it is solid enough. Honestly Dorys, this is a silly consideration. Do not start giving yourself excuses. If you want to evolve, I won’t let you have any of this nonsense.”

I am not…” she argued. “But if the wolf lunges at the separation or gnaw on it, it could fail its purpose, and…”

He rolled his eyes. “Excuses. Come on, now, get in.” He gestured for her to come, and pushed her slightly on the back, so she entered the empty part of the cage, and Farghund instantly locked the door.

Dorys startled.

Don’t be so nervous. This is the common procedure. You know that, right ?” He asked, looking up from the lock, to her.

She nodded.

So…it’s all getting real. At least your school mates can’t bully you with spikes here, so get comfortable, observe the wolf, and get going with your shifting.”

She sat in the middle of the cage, facing the wolf. A male. Probably in his prime to mate. He was nearing adult size. He barely paid attention to her at first, circling inside his cage, searching for a means to escape. She observed his muscles, and the way they moved under his fur.

Dorys concentrated, adopting an “on-all-fours” position her species’s anatomy of cat-like folks easily allowed. She was trying hard to empty her mind. Since she has heard The Call, everything in her body was changing. She had hit puberty some two years ago and was much more alert, anxious and restless as a result.

She shifted completely and almost seamlessly for the first time, even if it was painful, things were encouraging, as she felt free from her classmates’ aggressiveness.

She came back a few other times, each time with more progress. She was more at ease as time went by. Farghund assured her that things were going well and encouraged her. Dorys had a blind trust and faith in him, and never questioned his motives, what he did, and why. Until one day…things took a completely different turn of events.

There she was again, starting to shift into a wolf into the biggest cage. But something felt wrong.

She knew she would be having her moontime* soon. She had noticed it in her humor and behavior. She was much more irritable and angry than usual, and easily triggered. Not to mention her scent had probably changed a bit around this time, as well.

She was nervous, and Farghund instantly noticed it.

Don’t be so nervous Dorys. Breathe.” He said.

She was on all fours, again. She concentrated, but the wolf was by far paying too much attention to her. He was circling his cage, as if he wanted to get into hers.

She glanced at the male wolf again, who was now circling very near her cage, which is something he didn’t usually do. He was sniffing the air, and whimpering a bit. She closed her eyes, to concentrate, as if it would cut these sounds.

Farghund.” She called. “The wolf…he is…”

Farghund just shrugged it off. “Shift.” He said. “Nothing bad can happen, so stop worrying.”

Her limbs shifted into those of a wolf, and she could go halfway through the transformation, but then, it stopped, reversing back to her humanoid shape. She looked up at her uncle. “I can’t. I can’t, if…I don’t feel secure enough.” She found something to say.

He looked at her into a sigh. “Five minutes. I will verify the separation’s solidity. After what you’ll resume your shifting.” He opened the cage, and she got out.

She sighed, going straight for the cabin to pour some water on her face. Then, she laid down on a nearby long chair of sorts, which had furs on it. She curled up, very much like a real cat would. She closed her eyes, caught in some daydreaming.

After some time, Farghund called her back. She stretched, and went back to the cage.

What’s that…” Dorys cringed, watching the male wolf trying to poke his nose into her part of the cage, all too interested in the smells lingering there.

Come on, Dorys. It’s just a wolf acting normal. Get back in.” He said, with the same authoritative gesture of the head. “Now.”

She got back in. The wolf was now scratching against the trap door. Dorys growled. “I can’t shift, it’s making way too much noise I can’t concentrate enough. I even told you, it’s hard for me, it’s–”

And how do you expect to concentrate in a real fight situation ? Do you think your enemies will give you a full blown five minutes to listen to your whimpering because you’re failing to turn into your forms ? Don’t be silly, Dorys ! And quit responding ! Do it. Again.” He ordered.

Dorys’s eyes dropped and she made a small nod, she brought back herself on all fours, and reached the middle of the transformation.

But the wolf was completely agitated, and excited. He started gnawing on the trap door separating the cage in half. Pieces of bamboo, being thrown about.

Dorys felt bold enough to look at him and growl. Something she knew could very well be taken either as a provocation to fight, or an intimidating move. She hoped the wolf would understand the latter.

Farghund came and grabbed a stick. “No ! Down !” He screamed as he poked the wolf through the cage. The wolf attacked his “enemy” and broke it while throwing himself against the bamboo trapdoor, destroying it, too.

The wolf jumped from where it was into her part of the cage, stopping dead in its tracks. It sniffed the air, both intrigued and confused at the “thing” which was slowly going through the shifting process. She now had all the main features of a wolf, but something was wrong. Her eyes and ears remained that of a Wyldaeren, and her smell…definitely was that of a Wyldaeren, not a wolf. The wolf backed off and growled, sliding from interested to aggressive, exactly what Dorys had feared would happen.

The wolf lowered its head and circled her, going for her behind.

She backed off. “No.” She sprouted a sound that was no longer a clear voice, but more of a growl. Talking while shapeshifted required some training, which she didn’t have much of. The wolf growled as well, seizing her at the nap of the neck, passing a paw onto her back, and leaning onto her. She fell under his weight. A vivid pain crossing her whole body as her nerves were pinched. The wolf had immobilized her, and was about to…she didn’t want to think about it. Her eyes grew wide, and the transformation snapped to its end. Save for the eyes, she was fully wolfish, now. She spun, and snapped her jaws at him. Only to be met with his own against her throat, he was pushing to make her fall, again. She twisted her head and seized its ear, tearing through it. It backed off, yelping.

Go ahead, Dorys, kill it.” Farghund encouraged her, caught up in the fight. He seized a spike and tormented the wolf, who could only let its anger out at the nearest thing or being there, which was Dorys.

The wolf attacked her, but this time, she was ready. Fear rushed through her, as she trembled, growling. She jumped at it, despite being smaller than he was. She caught up its neck fur, first. Then, she opened her jaw to bite farther, catching its throat. She clenched her jaw as hard as possible, earning the wolf’s rage and attempts to bite back. It racked its claws into her belly, but she held on, being dragged and yanked all around into the whole cage, her back scratching against the floor. She shook her head, trying to make the wolf tumble, which was still kicking in all directions. She yelped but held on. Soon, she felt blood flowing into her throat, and felt the wolf’s breathing becoming more and more jolting and irregular. Then it fell on her, gasping, choking blood.

That’s enough.” Farghund voice resonated in her head.

Did she really hear him say that or was she making things up ?

The door of the cage opened and she saw a hand seizing the wolf, and dragging it outside. She glanced from the corner of her eye, got up, and ran towards the end of the cage, bumping hard enough into the bars that she yelped. Farghund’s tall figure framed against the door and he approached his hands. The light wasn’t quite right. Dorys, still stuck in her panicked rage, lunged at him. She didn’t know what she was doing in that second state of mind. She bit his hand an yanked on it, drawing blood from him. Farghung screamed, making a move to release himself, but Dorys let go of it, returning to the end of the cage, growling and glowering at him.

Dorys had her arms crossed. She was coming back only because she was told to do it, and because she was told he wanted to apologize.

Farghund walked towards her. He apologized, brushing that quickly out of the way. “Don’t you remember what happened last time ?” Farghund inquired, waving his still scarred hand that had yet to fully heal.

No.” Dorys lied. She shook her head, and looked aside. “You left me with…that wolf…” She snarled. She didn’t want to fully remember.

Really ?” He put his hands on his hips. “You experienced the ‘Fury’ for the first time. I had to keep you in the cage for a good full hour before you could start to calm down and unshift.” He sighed. “Anyway, today we’re changing the method. You will come with me into the forest.”

Dorys snapped back into the present, her eyes growing wide. “But I thought…? I mean, yeah, okay, that’s great…” She was hesitant, but she would never want to be back into that cage again, if it meant another twisted encounter with an animal. She followed after him.

Shift, now.” He said, leaving her behind a bush. “Wolf form of course.” He pointed out before walking away to his own bush.

Dorys crouched on all fours. “Urgh. I can’t wait until magic eases this to make it instantaneous.” She grumbled. “And actually have all my wardrobe being enchanted for that, too.” Then the transformation took place, it was easier, quicker and smoother than any other time she did it. A wolf’s nose popped into the bushes, uncaring as to whether she was done. She growled lightly.

Farghund had turned into a gray wolf. “Don’t be so grumpy and come along.” He had nigh perfect speech under this form. The pair approached a wolf’s pack from afar. “Look closely. This is how wolves communicate within themselves. If you can’t do this you’re going to get devoured.”

Dorys gestured that she had already studied wolf’s language during class, and she showed him some moves.

But it’s not enough ! You need to practice it, too.” he said. “Let’s go.” Farghund rushed towards a pack of wolves nearby, who were devouring the rest of a moose carcass.

Dorys backed off, catching his tail in her jaw, pulling on it. Her tail was ducked between her legs and her ears were flat on her head.

He rolled his eyes. «We’ll hunt some rabbit, then.»

The pair hummed the air, and Farghund led on, picking the scent of a nearby prey.

A rabbit jumped from a bush between his legs and he darted behind it. Dorys followed immediately after. She kept her eyes focused on it, not even noticing Farghund had been splitting ways from her. He soon jumped back in the chase behind Dorys, and she could feel his breath was close behind her.

The rabbit jumped some roots and Dorys jumped after it, while Farghund took another turn to interrupt it’s course, that the rabbit spun, but Dorys was quick and, as a result, the rabbit jumped directly into her maw. Farghund had jumped as well, and ended up hitting Dorys, making the both of them collapse onto each other, with Farghund ending up on top, behind Dorys. She was confused and snarled slightly, turning her head towards him. He backed off, but as if taking his time, and let one of his paws slide on her back. A dominant move for wolves she knew of. This time, her growl and snarl were more insisting, and he finally moved away.

Back into her humanoid form, she shrugged it off. It felt more accidental than anything, after all. She got out from her bush and they parted ways. Maybe this training of shapeshifting directly into the wild was the best solution. She would be back.

She came back another time, after other training sessions where nothing notable had been happening. She went at the cabin, this time. He told her he had a “surprise” for her. She walked past the cage, calling for Farghund. He told her he would wait for her in the woods. She looked around, hummed the air and picked his scent.

He grinned as he spotted her, stared at her and smiled. “Are you hungry ? Today we will…eat…like wolves. I’ve been hunting last night. I’ve also yet to show you some real wolf behaviors.”

She tilted her head. “Yeah, I definitely am.”

Get moving then.” He gestured.

Dorys found some bushes nearby. Her transformation was now much faster, it could take only seconds if she concentrated enough. Soon it would be instantaneous. And she had clearer speech than before, while shifted.

She made a low howl to signal she was done. Farghund rubbed against her, as wolves normally did, and they both moved on, sneaking into the woods until Dorys spotted a carcass some meters below.

Here we are ! This is the moose I’ve been hunting down. Come on.” Farghund said, an hint of pride in his voice.

They both jumped down the slope, when Farghund disappeared from her view, only to jump out of nowhere on her, waging his tail, and reaching to bite at her legs. She waged her tail in return, and caught his scruff into her jaw, yanking back an forth to throw him off balance, which he did fall, stumbling down on her. He caught her fur into his jaws, getting his crotch close to her.

No.” She growled. She squirmed from under him, freeing herself from his grip. “What did you think you were do–”

Shh–” He approached her, almost placing his paw on her mouth. “This is normal wolf behavior, ok ? So quit panicking…and don’t tell anyone.”

Dorys yanked it away from her mouth using her own paw. She frowned at him, dubious. “Alright…” She curled her lips in disgust. “Just…don’t do that again. Please.”

Let’s…” Farghund said. But he didn’t have the time to finish his sentence to invite Dorys to continue running that she was already darting away, leaving him behind in confusion.

Farghund followed after her, and they both resumed their course through the forest, returning to the moose carcass. They were panting, and both laid down for a minute. Then, Dorys rose and walked towards the carcass, and ate. Farghund did the same, next to her. She closed her eyes. She had never eaten directly onto a carcass, in wolf form, before.

She startled. There were cracking branches coming from where she couldn’t see. And where the hell has Farghund gone ? She turned her ears in all directions.

When he jumped from the shadows, onto her, and she collapsed. “Not attentive enough.” He jeered.

She lowered her ears and growled, ready to bite him.

He chuckled. “Come on, we’re still playing. Defend yourself.” He said, as he caught her scruff firmly into his jaws.

She yelped and spun after him, making her jaws snap near him. But Farghund had seen that coming and he dodged her. She ran off again, down the slope, and into the forest. She took a turn, and jumped on him, only to have her movement dodged as Farghund flattened onto the ground. When she landed he jumped on her, throwing her off balance. She found herself on the back again. He placed himself over her now, and caught her throat, just firmly enough to immobilize her. She whimpered. He laid on her, getting his crotch uncomfortably close to her rear. She tugged her tail between her legs as much as she could, and pushed him away with her back legs. Somehow this didn’t seem like a game any longer. She tried to get up, but he bounced back and pushed her down again. She tried to regain her balance, making the both of them collapse and roll. This time, she got up, but he bit at her rear, yanking her under him again.

She panicked. She couldn’t believe it. She roared furiously, snarling, growling and squirming from under his grip as she felt his crotch closing in on hers, again.

Get off me !” She roared, ears flattened and teeth bared. But, as he wasn’t moving, she caught some skin in her jaw, and bit down, as she extended her legs again, and clawed at his belly. He backed off with a yelp. She then ran off as soon and as fast as she could. Farghund chased after her. Dorys took all the leaves and branches into her face, as she was opening the way. She moved her ears backwards and could hear his paws make some fallen leaves and branches crack. She took a turn in some bushes to shake him off. He had slowed down. Dorys looked past the bushes, panting, with her ears still turning in every direction. Then she came to a halt.

When she was far away enough, and she was sure she had shaken him off, she shifted back to her humanoid form. She felt violated and dirty. She found a tree and climbed in it, if only to make sure she wouldn’t be disturbed in her pain. She curled up on herself in the depression at the top of the tree. She started to cry.

So here it is. The reference sheet for my persona / avatar / alter-go.

I don’t quite know what else to say, so if you have questions or want to draw her, just ask, I’ll be happy. 😉

The Wyldaeren species is mine. No touchy, no taking or stealing the name and concept, claiming it as your own !

Annoyed (Work In Progress)

Here, have an annoyed Dorys in armor.

I’ve been working on this for ages. Decided to add the fishnets so the skin could still be visible (these are NOT tattoos !), while they would offer some protection. There is background stuff, normally, but I decided to hide it so ya’ll can see her fancy armor I’ve spent ages designing.
There’s normally a table and a glass, and maybe a sword somewhere.
Oh, and she looks annoyed, probably because someone near her is talking too much shit. XD

Next time, shading and bakground !

Torn 2

Finally, after two full years of not drawing (I’ve been writing, working on “Demonic Encounter”…I can’t be everywhere, I guess. ^^) I’ve decided to kind of “redo” this picture :…

I’ve used this photo as a reference :…

This is the exact same character on these two pictures. She is my persona and has gone through many names and changes at this point. I used to call her “Jyn”, “Sun-Shynn”, then “Lùnsheynn” (it has become her middlename in my headcanon), then I’ve settled on the name “Dorys”, which is my third name (just replace the “y” with a “i”), and I think this will be her last name change.

Let me know what you think of it. :)

The escape of Heyriel (bio – prequel) v.2

Notes :

Last Updated : 2018/03/01 : Fixed some errors and small action things that didn’t make sense to me. (Also, changed her name : from Zerieth, to Heyriel).

2015/01/25 : Added a bit more dialogue for more…hum..details ? As always, I am open for mature comments. So don’t hesitate ! 🙂

Created : 16/12/2014

Heyriel is a Wyldaeren. An original species (looks like some kind of cat-like folks / elf) I have created. This is her bio / prequel, before the real story happens (that I will write in French entirely). The story itself will be fantasy with maybe another genre mixed in (I haven’t decided yet).
Wyrdaenia is the name of the planet they inhabit. I haven’t situated Heyriel’s alignment, yet… “good”or “bad”. You get to pick that for yourself, for now. 😉

This, here, is the newer version of Heyriel’s bio (Here is the old version : Old : “The Escape of Zerieth”  ). I actually had it written a few weeks ago, but I wanted to make sure after rereading it, it was ok for uploading (also I’ve been unsurprisingly sucked into WoW…). The text is totally different from the first story, so do not search for similarities, as almost only the end remains the same (no surprise, here). I hope it’s much better as I’ve actually tried to paragraph correctly, add more action and more dialogue. I also tried not to spend too much lines on explaining things of her life, and instead, tried to suggest it. I hope I didn’t screw up. (This description was on DeviantART, I just copy pasted it, lol)

Also, since I need to grow as an artist / writer, critiques and comments are always welcome !
Just please note that :
-English is NOT my first langage, so the text is prone to have many errors in it.
-I won’t tolerate flaming, trolling or otherwise pointless bitchy comments.
-Please be mature and polite in your critique.
-Tell me what you liked and what you didn’t like and WHY.

Heyriel sat in the corridor. That moron deserved what he had. She broke his nose. She would have done much worse, had the teachers not stopped her in the middle of the fight. The supervisor was now eyeing her as if she was the most dangerous criminal of the country. He really had nothing else to do except bothering her with his insisting looks, it seemed. She’s been bullied for not dressing and acting like the others. If she had any doubts she was different, now they were evaporated. She wore clothes resembling those of the Great East, with some feathers in her hair. She was half-blood from two very different cultures. She felt unwanted. They’ve called her father to come. He never took “care” of her anyway. He was never here most of the time, and she was doing what she wanted. When he was here, however…

She nervously bit her lip, and flicked her tail, waiting for the incoming storm of scornful rage her father would bring down on her. Ever since her mother left, dropping her in front of his house, he didn’t care and constantly redirected any aggression towards her.

The door banged open, and he entered, his broad figure almost obliterating the light. She had inherited his physical strength. He passed her by, and turned his head only to look down on her. Not good enough. She knew what he was thinking, and she had enough. She rolled her eyes and he called her name to enter the director’s office. She entered, sat and sank in the chair, crossing her arms, her legs, and sighed.

The director sat and bent over his desk, searching for her eyes. She briefly looked at him.

-“Very well. I suppose you know why you are here. You punched someone in the face. You know the consequences are being punished by some hours of detention.”

She turned her head sideways and grimaced. He tilted his. Her father hit her head.

-“The man is talking to you !” He exclaimed. “Answer…” He growled.

She swiftly turned her head back at the director.

-“That guy had what he deserved.” She said curtly. “There is no way I’m having…punishment”. She curled her lips in a growl.

Her father looked at the director.

-“I will take care of her punishment, myself.” He said in an eerily calm voice. The director nodded in agreement and swiftly spoke again :

-“Also you must know that your daughter used several magic spells while into the school to intimidate other students.”

Her father’s eyes grew wide. He glowered at her.

-“Fine.” He pinched his lips, and rose to shake the director’s hand.

Heyriel did the same, following him out of the office. They both walked for a moment, when her father’s voice broke the silence.

-“Magic, seriously ?! What did you have in mind ?” He rose his arms up to the sky. “I forbade you ! The law forbids it, even ! Not to mention that no one will want a woman who…”

-“Fine ! No one ever wanted me around anyway, most don’t even make the “effort” of knowing me.” She snapped, cutting him short.

-“Stop that. Stop talking to me like this ! The director may have decided not to kick you out of school, but I will keep you home. You will adjust to this culture…And you will stop looking down on people !” He snarled, yanking her by the arm and shaking her. She lowered her ears and squirmed from his grip.

-“And especially on you, right ?” She narrowed her eyes. “No wonder why she left then.” She hissed.

He slapped her, and her red hair flew in front of her face. She glowered through it.

-“You will obey and close your mouth ! Know your place !” He bellowed.

-“There is no way I’m staying home !” She protested, waging her tail in frustration. “You’re never here anyway…” She jeered between her teeth.

-“Now I will be.” He asserted.

-“I am nearly an adult ! What do you think you’re imposing me ?” She hissed.

-“You need to be taught…” He started, but she cut him short.

-“Don’t tell me what I need.” She snarled. “Nothing coming from you will ever…school taught me so much more !”

-“Did it tell you how to behave ? How to be good ?” Now he jeered back to her.

-“Good as in being an obedient and submissive woman who never has a right to anything, anyway ?” She gritted her teeth and glowered at him.

He shook is head, looking down on her and taking a falsely caring tone.

-“You’re such a misfit…a cultural abomination. You are my biggest mistake. My biggest…shame. Damn it Heyriel. Even your mother had more class…and she left me with the burden that you are.” He looked at her straight in the eyes, a disgusted expression lingering on his face.

Her eyes grew wide and she fell silent for a few seconds. Somehow she was shocked. He said and did horrible things in the past to her, but he never said something like that, not until now at least. Even tough she never expected anything else from him. But it hurt her pride enough that she felt devastated. He saw her expression, and in a quick gesture, he seized her arm, teleporting themselves directly into the house. They appeared in front of her room. She squirmed violently, shaking her head.

-“It was your mistake ! And she left because you are a fucking bastard !” She eventually yelled, suddenly realizing what was happening.

-“Stay here.” He pushed her into the room. She almost fell over, and quickly turned back to face him.

-“No way !” She roared. “You don’t even care, and now you think you can do this to me ?” She curled her lips. She lunged forward in an attempt to escape, but her father caught her into a firm grip. She felt heat forming in her hands.

-“Since you are unable to calm down, you will stay here, until I decide whether you can go out.” He pinched his lips, talking in a firm, stern tone, pushing her yet closer to her room. “And this could take months.”

-“Because of who do you think I can’t calm down ?” She growled. He frantically pushed her in, slamming the door shut, locking her in.

She stared at it, bewildered and angry, eyes wide, breath itching in her lungs, nearly gasping for air. She cursed under her breath, before eventually screaming it out loud. If no one wanted her, then she would be gone…for good. Today has been too much for her. The heat in her hands was growing stronger and she would not even try to repress it this time, as with every other time she did, when she was upset. Her magic training was far from complete and she knew it, but didn’t care anymore. She got up and lashed out a fire spell at her door, burning it down to ashes at her first try.

Her father spun around, only to see raging flames, already eating at the wooden structure. He stopped for a mere second in both amazement and terror.

Heyriel lunged past him as fast as she could manage, and taunted him. She smirked and shook her head. Her father’s expression switched back to anger and then rage, and he lunged after her. But she was fast, and managed to launch a few fire spells into the house before finding herself outside, at last. The fire growing wild with her rage had been forming a thick smoke and she could tell that her father was disoriented by it. She continued to bend the flames at her will until she heard him bellowing and cursing at her as he was making his way out of the house as well, in a rather blind and hurried fashion, tripping on things he couldn’t see.

She carried on running until she could jump behind a bush. She crouched. She was free, at last. She stood here, out of breath, looking at the flames which had been taking gigantic proportions, now. It fascinated her and she had her eyes wide open, as if she was afraid to miss anything. The fear started to dissipate. He would not lock her up or hurt her, now, no longer. She listened to his bellows. She smirked. He deserved it. She rose after a few minutes, giving a last look on the ashes that this “home” had become, contemplating her job, her smirk eventually growing up into a full grin.

Then she looked around, thinking of all the things there was still to do and the world to explore. She then turned her heels and jumped in the opposite direction, towards the forest.

OLD_The escape of Zerieth (bio – prequel)

Edit 2014-12-27 : I’ve changed the paragraphing and this is all I will ever do with this one. The new, completely overhauled version can be found here : The Escape of Zerieth.

Edit 2014-11-17 : I’m thinking or rewriting this a bit…some stuff are unclear and I didn’t include everything I wanted to. I still need to think about it, though. For now, comments / critiques are still welcome.

Something that happens on Wyrdaenia, prior the real story begins.
The story itself will be fantasy with maybe another genre mixed in (I haven’t decided yet).
This is meant to be read as a “prequel” of some sorts, at least it only tells about a part of the bio of one of my crazy bitch villain…Meet Zerieth !
She gets completely fucking insane later on (even now, I can’t really say she’s “healthy”), and although nothing is truly set in stone, yet (I’m just having fun, now), I don’t think anyone would want to be her friend (at least, I wouldn’t O_o)

Whatever. 😀
Just enjoy ?
And please if you have comments, critiques, etc… do not hesitate ! (but please be mature and constructive with your critque and don’t send me pointless flames…thank you :))

He didn’t speak to Zerieth. Never. At least never while they were eating. And he didn’t speak when addressing her as a general rule. He would growl, threaten, bring her down. There never really was what could be called a « conversation ». And if there was, it was always on the brink of screaming. Tonight, he sat on one end of the table, but she wasn’t allowed to be at its other end. That was for those who were « worthy » of it, and her father deemed she wasn’t enough. So she sat everywhere else around it, making sure she was never too close to him. He wanted to watch her, and her manners while she was eating. She had made sure she would fake following his orders…until she would be old enough to « escape ». As long a he was silent, it was alright for her. She didn’t want to ear for the umpteenth time how she wasn’t good enough, and how she would never fit into his culture, because, since her eastern mother decided to abandon her, and he was the only one remaining to raise her and care after her, he should decide what kind of woman she was going to be, and he never let her have a say in it. She ate fast, not taking the proper time to masticate before swallowing. She tolerated less and less to be into the same room as him.

So, once she was done, it was always the same ritual. She took away the dishes and washed them, without saying a word, after what she walked upstairs and isolated herself in her room. If she was lucky enough, he didn’t disturb her to lecture her about how she was supposed to be, and how bad she had behaved today, according to his standards and expectations.

The frontdoor creaked open. It was her father’s friend. She was told he was coming and that she was unwanted around. She didn’t like him, anyway. Hated him, even. He held the same spite towards her as her father did. She could see it in his eyes. The way they both looked at her and talked about women. It gave her the nausea. Her room was close enough and her ears sensitive enough, so that she could hear the voices and intonation used, and she could have heard the words too, but she did not want to concentrate on it to hear them. They were both laughing. She never saw her father behave like that, with her. He was always displeased. Her heart crunched with frustration, pain and anger. Why did he never treat her like this ? Instead, he was constantly aggressive, to the point she grew up afraid of him and constantly aggressive, herself. The fact she never really went to school and didn’t see new faces didn’t help develop herself, either. She didn’t really had “friends”. His excuse was that she was a “problem child”…and she might have become like that somehow, because of him. He wanted her for himself, under his command, yet constantly reminded her how much she looked like her mother, both physically and…well, he was trying his best to stifle her headstrong character. He said it looked far too much like her mother, too independent, and that he despised it because she ran away despite his pleading to stay after Zerieth has been born, and he kept pushing all the blame on her, all the pressure, all his anger, frustration and aggression.

She had wanted to go downstairs and be a part of the conversation, be a part of “something”, for once in her life. In the past, she had hoped that friend of his would see the abuse she was enduring, that he would, somehow “side” with her. But nothing happened…even worse, he was on her father’s side. And now, she knew that if she ever dared to show up, she would only collect a scornful gaze from her father, and his friend, which would turn, later on after his friend would be gone, into a full blown rage and hits from him. She gritted her teeth. She had no freedom or “love” whatsoever. He even locked her door sometimes and her room only had a smallish window through which she couldn’t pass. So, it came to the point she was now used to often sneak out of the house to see what she wasn’t normally allowed to see of the world, which consisted of good and dark places alike. Although she was preferring the bad ones. She would also go alone in the wilderness, or in some places of the city, to train her magic. But those were very few times, recently. She had been caught the last time…or so it seemed. Her father told her that he knew what she was doing because of « rumors ». She didn’t know if it was true or not. Probably just bluff, to keep her « under control ». She could feel a burning sensation in her hands. Her magic wanted to go out of her, and she didn’t control it perfectly, yet, and especially not when she was angry or upset, like now. She felt like if she touched something now, it would instantly catch on fire. So much time she hasn’t trained it seems…

She sighed, shrugged and crossed her arms behind her head, letting herself fall backwards on the bed, in an attempt to relax, and began to dwell on the possibility of going out during this night. His father sounded far too distracted to notice anything, maybe she could do something… She heard glasses clink, which meant they were probably drinking. She hoped it was strong alcohol, somehow. That he would drink so much he would directly sleep…and not beat her up, should she still be here.

She rose and began to pack up her things into a small pouch, excitation building up and her heart racing in her chest at the anticipation of evading that place, if only for a few hours. She needed to go out of her room. She opened the door, popping her head outside, to look around the house from the unlit mezzanine overlooking the living room, before going out of it. She then closed the door shut, without a sound. Both men were unaware of what she was doing, visibly too caught up into their talk. She skittered until she opened the door of a small room. That one had a big window in comparison. She opened it, and the autumnal breeze blew in her face. As well as a very light rain. She almost forgot how it felt, staying in rapture for some seconds, breathing deeply. She looked below. She was maybe 4 or 5 meters above the ground. It didn’t matter. She was a wyldaeren, a “cat folk”, like they were sometimes called. Her bones would not break easily and she had nothing to fear. She half-closed the window behind her, like she always did, and jumped down, landing gracefully, making her way towards the city.

She made her way back after a few hours, having drank in bars one or two glasses with money she stole either from her father when he wasn’t looking or from strangers in the street. She has been training her magic a little, too, and she was in a better, almost cheerful mood, and a small smirk remained on her lips. She slowly made her way to the outskirts of the city, where she was living. She could hear footsteps too, but didn’t pay attention to them, even though the town was not overcrowded, hearing footsteps or having a slight impression of being followed was not uncommon, either. She carried on but they didn’t fade. She eventually stopped herself and turned around to see what was there, pricking her ears to any sound she heard. Nothing or no one was to be seen. Usually people passed her by when she did that. After a moment, she shrugged. That must have been an echo, a coincidence…it could be anything. She resumed her walking, but she was insecure, and her ears were now orientated backwards, in the direction the sound was coming from. She repeated stopping in the middle of the road and accelerating. Something was off. Those footsteps were following her, she heard them splash on the wet ground, mimicking her every move, and she could even feel eyes peering at her. She started to feel uncomfortable. She glanced back shortly, and started to run. The footsteps did the same, albeit with a slight delay. Whoever was after her wasn’t prepared for her surge. A voice called her name, which she recognized it instantly. Her father’s friend. What was he doing here, anyway ? A ball of rage started to form in her stomach. He didn’t live in the outskirts…what kind of twisted idea made him think to go after her ? Whatever. She wasn’t going to stop. She was just hoping it was not her father who sent him after her…although, now, it seemed unlikely. She could sense him accelerating behind her, even if she didn’t look. She felt the gap closing between them, and she swore she could sense his breath on her neck. He jumped on her, and they both collapsed. Now she could clearly feel his alcoholic breathing against her neck. She squirmed out of his grip, biting and clawing at him and he squeaked when a particularly nasty one landed on his face. She pushed him aside, bringing herself back up, and he followed shortly after, yanking her roughly by the arm, and pointing to the fresh scar on his face, growling.

-”Do you realize what you did ? You tore my face, you worthless little…”

-“Who do you think you are ?!” She growled, her ears flattened backwards, and her tail flicking, as if she was going to fight. All her frustration surfaced after remembering the two men being so close to each other while she seemed to be nothing more than an embarrassment to her father. “You follow me and then you jump on me…Let me go !”

She yanked her arm roughly from his grip, clawing his arm in the process. She made a run start, again, but he firmly caught her by the arm, turning her, placing her arms behind her back and pulling her against him.

-”Your father will be enchanted to know what you did…” He smirked cruelly.

-”You have no right…” She hissed in indignation.

He pushed her forward and she bared her teeth, hissing, trying to hide the heat from her hands, which was making its way back. She knew nothing good for her could come out of it right now. He didn’t pay much attention to this. He took a pair of handcuffs from his pocket that he attached her hands with. Her eyes went wide. She was livid. She would never have thought he would do this, take some object from his profession and attach her with it. She did not have time to think about it any further. He casted a teleportation spell, and they both ended up in front of her imposing father’s house.

He was waiting for them, standing at the top of the stairs, arms crossed. In that awkward moment she could see why her mother chose him. He was handsome, physically strong, with toned muscles, a large torso…and it stopped there. She had it figured out since years that if her mother only saw him for sex and ultimately didn’t stay with him, it was probably because of his violent temper and awful attitude with women. Maybe she thought he wouldn’t hurt his own daughter. She was so wrong… now that she was grown up he even cared less about whatever he was doing to her. And, despite the fact she had inherited his strong and fit physical frame, she felt often weak and defenseless in front of him, even though her mindset had begun to change, recently. He looked at her up and down and frowned. Her ears flattened on the side and her face became tense, her tail nervously tugging between her legs in anticipation, despite herself. He uncrossed his arms and walked down the few stairs, closing the gap between the three of them.

-”Here you are ! How many times did I tell you that you have no right to go out ?!” He growled. She opened her mouth, but was cut short when he slapped her.

Her head turned sideways under its effect and her red hair flew, covering her face, she stood like that, unable to move or do anything. But she was furious, against herself for having been caught, and against them both.

Her father’s friend pushed her, releasing the grip the handcuffs had on her hands, and she almost fell over, only catching herself back before it was too late. Her father yanked her by the arm, pushing her forward towards the door. She closed her fists in a desperate attempt to suppress the heat sensation, which was growing stronger. She spun, and glowered at him, growling.

-”Why ?” She stood firmly in place, her head held low and her ears flattened backwards in anger and hatred. “Why ? Why can’t I ever simply go out ?” She demanded, louder, this time.

-”Because I told you so !” He exclaimed, moving his arms upwards. He caught her arm even more roughly, shoving her into the house and nodding to his friend. He spun and they faced each other. His face was red with anger and his jaw tense. “How dare you say things like that in front of my friend ! I told you you had no right to go out or disobey, yet you did. Do you realize how humiliati…”

She snapped, her tail flicking, her ears flattened still, interrupting him.

-”Everything is humiliating for you ! Have you thought of me for at least a second ?” She sighed. “I’m just trying to live my life !” She pleaded.

-”Enough ! If you will not obey, then I will lock you up !”

Her eyes went wide. He didn’t want to hear any of this and she felt like there was no possible discussion.

-”I can’t be locked up !” She cried out.

He walked towards her, catching her arm. She had enough of being pushed around like this.

-”You will !” He bellowed, forcing her into walking upstairs, towards her room. She cowered for some mere seconds, a weird mix of fear and rage building up inside her. The burning sensation in her hands becoming more and more intense. She suddenly stopped walking and spun, freeing her arm from his grip, suddenly out of breath. She shook her head and growled.

-”I won’t.”

-”Pardon me ?” He demanded, turning her to face him. His eyes widened. Her eyes were glowing intensely with uncontrolled magic. Despite going out at night and attempting to train and learn the ways of a witch, it still haven’t been enough. She wondered why it manifested now. Why not earlier…She looked at her waist. All of her belongings that really mattered were here, into the pouch hanging by her belt. She didn’t need any more, except for food and water, maybe.

-”I really have enough of you.” He snarled, seemingly regaining his usual, cold, indifferent and overall despicable composure. Rushing after her and pushing her forward again.

-”I won’t ! You never gave me my freedom…I will take it myself !” She attempted to free herself from him again, roaring and clawing at him, landing one of her hot hand on his arm. He cried out when a part of his skin melted. She looked around her. There won’t be anything she was going to miss. She actually wanted to see it all burn to ashes. She concentrated even more onto her anger, flames forming at her hands, and she unleashed them onto the furniture, and everything else that could possibly burn. Her father lunged at her in a desperate attempt for this to stop, but she quickly dodged him, throwing more fire spells in every other possible direction. The flames were burning everything and were going wild with her rage, forming a thick, suffocating smoke. The door banged open and her father’s friend stood here, bewildered, blocking the way out. He bellowed something she did not understand. Crackles from the fire could be heard everywhere. She looked at him. He was bellowing at her. She realized she had a bloody fantasy involving him. He too, lunged at her. She did not even dodge this time. She lunged forward, roaring and tearing out his throat with her claws. Blood splattered. She ran out, her father following shortly after her, although in a rather blind fashion. He bellowed her name, looking around for her. She ran to the nearest bush, hiding behind it. She rose, giving a last look on the ashes that this “home” had become. She smirked, contemplating her job.

She looked around, thinking of all the things there was still to do and the world to explore. She then turned her heels and jumped in the opposite direction, towards the forest.
